Inspiration for the color scheme came from imagery in Horacio Quirago’s texts wherein the contrast of artwork subjects is amplified against a backdrop of vivid hues reminiscent of la selva. Color is a significant element that factors into the work and Centurion’s identity as a Latin American queer artist in the 1980s. Color here acts as a vibrant backdrop to the exuberance of the subject matter.
